Flood Oil is a hometown, Flood Family owned business started by George Flood in 1930. George was joined by his brother Frank Flood in 1933 as the two started what would become an ongoing 75+ year Oil Business. Frank and George would work together, Frank on the delivery truck and George at the station, until Frank joined the service for WWII.
However, Oil was just the beginning, as the company became more recognized for its oil and coal distribution, George also installed the first oil furnace in Eden. Servicing and installation of oil conversion furnaces later became a large part of the business. In 1945 Frank started the Route Delivery system, a new idea for distribution at the time. In 1952 George turned ownership of the business over to Frank. In the first years of service, fuel sales were at 50,000 gallons a year. In later years it would peak at 3,000,000 gallons. Since it's beginning, Flood Oil has remained a family owned business, George's two sons and Frank's five sons all worked there while in high school and college. Frank remains president of the corporation at age 94 and his two sons Bob and Peter co-own the business. Installation of furnaces remain a big part of the business, Steve Kohlman and Bob Bothe work day to day in that department. Peter Flood, co-owner, also drives truck delivering fuel along with Joseph Pagel. Bob Flood is head of the station and garage along with Don Blatz. Peter's son Kevin and Bob's three sons Steve, Sam and David all currently work at the station helping out with day to day work. Often confused to be part of the Eden Flood family, Paul Flood is also employed at Flood's and works in the garage but is of little or no relation to the Flood's of Flood Oil. Secretaries include Judy O'Brien, Karen Whitty, Rosi Loehr and Dan O'Brien. Harold Krief, who worked along with Frank early on, is still going strong and works at the station half days.
Flood Oil Company has remained a hometown service that has been trusted for generations. Frank, Bob, and Peter have all enjoyed building their customer relations and continue to look forward to future years of service and loyalty to the Eden area.
